Fouth of July Camping Boca Reservoir

This Fourth of July I had the privilege to camp at Boca Reservoir with some friends. We camped at the west side campground that is currently only accessible through Prosser Reservoir or HWY 89 (see end note on directions) due to the dam being closed.
This campground was full for the holiday weekend but was nice because not alot of people coming through due to the detour. The Boca boat ramp is only accessible through this side as well so not many boats on the reservoir this year which is wonderful considering this is the best wakeboarding lake in Tahoe!
Boca Campground sits above the west shore of beautiful Boca Reservoir. Many of the 24 open setting single family campsites over look the reservoir. Large pine and fir trees shade most sites. This location makes a great base camp for activities like: fishing, hunting, hiking, bike riding, boating, swimming, water skiing, windsurfing and sightseeing. A boat launch located one mile from the campground.Pets are allowed here with usual rules of leash and picking up after them.
If in need of some forgotten camping items the Camp Store at Stampede located inside the entrance of Logger Campground offers a variety of camping and fishing equipment and supplies; including ice, snack, grocery and gift items - making it the perfect place to come for those needed items. Another good thing to mention is there is no water at this facility, so make sure you bring cooking and drinking water.
Overall this is the perfect campground if you would like to atv/bike from your campsite to over the 100 accessible miles of trails out in the reservoir area and then take out your boat in the afternoon!
Directions for detour: From Truckee - approximately one mile north on Highway 89, turn right on Prosser Dam Road. Follow across the dam stay on Nevada County Road 787, stay to the right at the first intersection onto Forest Road 73 to Boca Campground and Boat Ramp. GPS to Prosser Dam Road 39.345 120.1721
